Encaustic Monotype
Encaustic Monotype - create one of a kind prints and collect materials for collage
Monotypes are created by melting wax on a hot plate and then placing the paper onto the hot wax. Once pressure has been applied to the paper, the wax is absorbed into it and when it is pulled off the plate, you will have created a unique print. Numerous artists use a Roland Hotbox to pull their prints. I have taken workshops with Paula and can share what I have learned during this three hour workshop. Encaustic prints can be exciting on their own or incorporated into other artworks. During the first class you will learn how to heat the plate for a variety of effects, how to use stencils to build and block images and which papers work best for different effects. Minimum workshop fee $210, for three people including all materials. Additional guests $60 per person.
